MINDSET FITNESS SUCCESS EP20- MENTAL MOBILITY

A concept that’s been pretty popular in the fitness world over the last few years has been mobility, and just working on joint ranges of motion, flexibility, and being free flowing with the body so that the posture’s unobstructed. But something that’s been a little bit neglected in the overall health and wellness side of things has been our mental mobility.

I read something the other day which said that the average person has 60,000 thoughts every single day, and of those 60,000 thoughts, 45,000 of those are negative thoughts. Now, a lot of those negative type thought patterns are actually ingrained in us since a very young age and a lot of them run on autopilot. We don’t even realise that we’re doing them and they can be very limiting and stop us from being able to freely think about things. They often stop us from being able to achieve certain goals because we already count ourselves out before we even attempt it.

Something that you can do, which I’ve been doing, is just spending a day or two not trying to change the way that you think, but just observing it. Just being a little bit more conscious and putting a little bit more awareness into what your thoughts are. Just paying attention, is it negative? Is it positive? Is there something that is potentially holding me back from being able to achieve? Once you’ve done that and if you do work out that you are having a lot of negative thoughts, something that you can do is focus on asking yourself questions that are solution orientated as opposed to excuse orientated. Try and come up with questions and answers of reasons why you can do something without allowing yourself to come up with an excuse why you can’t.
